Finance Options
At GowringsVersa Mobility, we’ve partnered with Mann Island to offer simple, and affordable Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) finance options. The great news is these finance options can be supported with monthly income received from a range of awards and benefits, including your higher rate disability allowance.
Historically it has been difficult to finance WAVs with mainstream banks and lenders, who don’t fully understand the cost involved for the vehicle and the conversion. Working in partnership with Mann Island we understand the cost of new conversions and the value of vehicles that have already been converted. Each application for WAV finance is considered on you current ability to pay and not on your credit score meaning that a high number of applications are accepted.
By using your mobility, allowance on a finance agreement provides you with an opportunity to own the vehicle outright (after all payments have been fulfilled). It also means that future allowances can go towards other expenses like maintenance, insurance, fuel, etc, especially if you do not qualify for the Motability Scheme.
Our team of Mobility Managers treat each application on an individual basis, so we are able to tailor the finance offer to suit your unique needs and circumstance, meaning deposit amounts and repayment periods are completely flexible.
If you are interested in financing a vehicle with GowringsVersa our calculator can help you work out what your monthly repayments could be. It’s important to make sure you can afford it, and get an idea of how much the total amount of interest will be by the time you’ve paid it off. *Please note, the loan calculator is intended to give an indication only. Please see Terms & conditions for more information
Mann Island Finance is part of Investec Bank plc, an international specialist bank, and asset manager that provides a diverse range of financial products and services.

What Disability Awards do I Need to Qualify?
Wheelchair accessible vehicle finance applications can be supported with income received in the form of disability benefits. These can be taken into consideration on their own or in addition to employment income or pension income.
Types of Disability Benefits that can usually be taken into consideration when applying for WAV finance include:
- Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
- Employment & Support Allowance (ESA)
- Carer’s Allowances
- Attendance Allowance
- The War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
- The Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
What is the Nearly New scheme?
What is the process for arranging WAV Finance?
Either complete our easy online application form and one of our advisors will then contact you to get a full breakdown of how your income is made up, or speak to us first and we can take your details over the phone, call 0345 608 8020.
Once approved we will take care of the paperwork, the finance documents will either be emailed or sent in the post for signing. Once we receive the signed paperwork the money is then released to GowringsVersa Mobility and you will be notified when your vehicle becomes available, to which we will then arrange delivery.
Buy or Rent… what’s better?
We understand that the purchase of a new WAV represents a significant financial investment and that there are a number of ways our customers choose to finance their Accessible Vehicle. Whilst no two circumstances are the same, we will work with you to determine the most appropriate finance option that suits your lifestyle and financial budget.
A lot of our customers do qualify for the higher rate mobility allowance and therefore qualify for a brand new car under the Motability lease scheme. Instead of effectively “renting” a car and returning it, they prefer the idea of using their mobility allowance to actually purchase a vehicle outright and therefore having an asset once all the monthly payments have been completed.
I can’t get financial support what should I do?
If you are struggling to find a suitable finance option for your WAV we recommend reaching out to Motability first and foremost, they will have the resource and knowledge to point you in the right direction.
Alternatively, it might be worth contacting charitable organisations that may be able to offer some advice on sources of finance.
Here are some examples of online resources that might be able to help:
Wheelchair Accessible & Adapted Vehicle Hire
Newship Group, GowringsVersa Mobility parent company, acquired the specialist Adapted Vehicle Hire (AVH) rental business in 2019. Since that time, GowringsVersa Mobility and AVH have been working closely to implement improvements to our rental service offering.
These improvements include a larger range and choice of wheelchair accessible rental vehicles, increased strategically placed nationwide locations and improved systems and processes.
