Our History
GowringsVersa Mobility, (then known as Gowrings Mobility), was established in Thatcham in 1963. We were one of the first vehicle suppliers to the Motability scheme in the 1970s and a founding member of the Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle Converters Association (WAVCA), the body responsible for setting industry safety standards.
We have always remained at the forefront of design, manufacture and supply of wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs) and now have a proud history of over 60 years of service to our customers in the UK.
1963
WAV Converter, Gowrings Mobility
was founded in 1963 and operated from Thatcham, Berkshire. The company invented the original ‘wheelchair passenger vehicle’ and was one of the first suppliers of wheelchair accessible vehicles to Motability.

2019
8th April 2019
Gowings Mobility acquire WAV Converter,O&H Mobility, in order to grow its business and provide a wider vehicle range and service.
2020
30 November 2020
Gowrings Mobility Acquisition of another WAV conversion business, Versa, from Bristol Street Fourth Investments Limited (Part of the Vertu Motors Group).
This acquisition extended the existing product range even further to add to the range of high-quality WAVs.
2021
01 April 2021
Gowrings Mobility after the acquisition of Versa, change the company name to GowringsVersa Mobility, (part of the legal entity: Gowrings Mobility Group Limited).
